Comrade Kasimu Bameyi, has been elected has the new president of the Fitters Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (FISSAN) to pilot the affairs of the union for the next four years.

While declaring the result on Sunday,26th November 2023 in Yenagoa, during FISSAN 2nd Delegate Conference Bayelsa 2023,after a successful election,the Secretary General of FISSAN, Comrade Morrista Idibra, said a total of 118 members was accredited,out of which 117 votes was valid and 1 void vote.

Comrade Kasimu Bameyi who defeated two other candidates scored 102 votes, while comrade Edmond Sagba Flow 15 votes and comrade Enofua Stephen scored 0 vote.

other executive members returned unopposed are comrade Prosper Oyinbo returned unopposed as deputy president, comrade Okolie Peterson Vice president, Theodore Iyke as Public relations officer, Felix Palmer Treasurer and Simon Yerite as Auditor 2.

Others include, comrade Frank as Provost, comrade Ebikibina Jack as bayelsa Trustees, Felix Ofumba Lagos, Dele Gbadamosi Info and comrade Wealth Delta State Trustees.

Speaking to journalists, immediately after he was declared winner, the newly elected president Kasimu Bameyi said his leadership style will be an all inclusive one devoid of rancor.

He assured members of FISSAN that he will not betray the confidence bestowed on him,while calling for support from everyone for a successful tenure.

The new elected president, attributed some of the challenges confronting members as not adhering to FISSAN laid down rules and regulations, litigations amongst others,he however promised to change the narrative by reconciling warring members.

He further said, his first assignment will be to reconcile all aggrieved members and work together with his executive members to bring everybody onboard. Saying all pending issues regarding litigations and Police cases will be resolved in other for the union to move forward.

His word, “my people should be expecting good things. I will not betray them and I believe they will not also betray me. We are in it together, if it’s good, all of us will enjoy it. I know am there for them and they are there for me”.

“Though one of our major challenge is members not complying with the rules and regulations of the Union. As a member, you did something wrong and you were disciplined and the next thing you run to court. Those are wrong thing and pose a great challenge when members don’t respect our Union Constitution and bye-laws. We have to see how we can stop all these things. For me, I will start from where my president stopped. He is my brother, my mentor, he has tried his best and I will always consult him for advice”.

In his welcome address, the state chapter chairman and the host, comrade Samaru Ataria, admonished members to see the unity of the Union above selfish interest.

He urged members to work with the newly elected president and the executive members in other to move the Union to a greater heights.
