The erstwhile National Publicity Secretary of the defunct New People’s Democratic Party (nPDP) and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze has argued that the recent conditions of settlement proffered by President Bola Tinubu over the political crisis in Rivers State is draconian and embarrassing to the sensibilities of the Rivers people.

Eze, in a statement alleged that President Tinubu mediated in the Rivers political upheaval to “further entrap Siminialayi Fubara into the bondage which he has been fighting off to liberate the state and her people from.”

The former National Publicity Secretary, nPDP stated that the 8-point agreement between Fubara and Wike is anti-democratic and self-serving having failed to address the origin of the crisis.

Eze condemned the agreement signed by the warring parties saying, “Having carefully and critically read through the truce initiated by President Tinubu to address the lingering political crisis in Rivers State, I wish to highlight that the eight point agreement is but unconstitutional, illegal, unacceptable, undemocratic, judicial abuse and a ploy to cage governance in Rivers State and buy temporary relief for Minister Nyesom Wike.

“The agreement failed woefully to address the major issues that brought up this conflict.”

He blamed the political crisis in the state on what he described as draconic and dictatorial interference of the FCT minister in the governance of the State and the continued dehumanization and disrespect of Sir Similayi Fubara, the Governor of Rivers State.

The APC stalwart argued that the said agreement did not address these issues or at least, curtail alleged excesses of dirmer governor Wike.

Eze maintained that the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria must be respected based on its superiority above any agreement signed under whatever circumstance.

The APC Chief commended Rivers State former goveenor, Dr. Peter Odili for not appending his signature to the alleged pact which he criticized for having the tendency to cage Rivers State.

Eze advised governor Fubara to disregard the pact and consult widely with Rivers State stakeholders before implementing any portion of the agreement “unless he is tired to continue to act as the Governor of Rivers State.”

On the fate of the 27 lawmakers who defected to APC, he expressed the view that the defected lawmakers had by thier action lost their seats according to the constitution,

According to him, nothing can be done to bring the lawmakers back to the state assembly again, given that the matter is constitutional.

The APC chieftain called on President Tinubu to act by calling Wike, the current FCT minister to order in order to avoid an unprecedented calamity in the state.
